Who decides over
these claims to the North Pole?
There is a United
Nations (UN) commission that is recognised by 4 out of the 5
Polar countries, in order to decide the future of the North
Pole. Russia has so far been the most verbal of their claim to a
piece of the region.
In a recent
perilous and courageous mission, the Russians descended 14,000
feet in a deep-sea submersible, and pitched their national flag,
cast in titanium, under the North Pole to bolster their claim to
the Arctic
Their claims have
so far been denied by the UN, as were the claims of the other
Polar countries.
The U.S.A. is the
only Polar country which does not recognise the authority of the
UN over the claims to the North Pole. Although outnumbered by
the other countries who do recognise their authority, the U.S.A.
is, by all means, the most powerful country in the world, and
they will not accept a NO for an answer when it comes down to
dividing ownership of the North Pole.
The resources of
the North Pole are of vital interest to America, who have
already sent nuclear submarines to the area to emphasize their
wish to have a piece of the action. The U.S.A. will not respect
the decisions made by the UN without their own approval.
Some fear that this
may eventually lead to an international military conflict – even
war - between the five nations!
Nobody quite knows
how this will be settled, but it seems to us to be very unlikely
that a deal can be struck without the approval of the U.S.A.
And so we are now
able to declare that NO decision over the future ownership of
the North Pole can be made without our involvement as owners of
The International People’s Claim to the North Pole and
all of its resources.
Why should the five
countries take our claim seriously?
Giantclaim™ does
not have submarines or missiles at their disposal to enforce
their claim to the North Pole. However, all five nations
involved in this are democracies, which means the millions of
people that live in them have two advantages:
1) they may make
their own personal claim to the North Pole
2) they have a real
vote in their respective governments.
When our aim is
reached and 25 million people have their own claim to the North
Pole, none of these governments are likely to ignore your, and
our, legal rights to the North Pole.
We, as owner of the
“People’s claim,” cannot be ignored by those who are in power
and depend on our votes.
Why are the Polar
nations fighting over a piece of the globe, which so far has
only been inhabited by Polar Bears and Whales?
According to
scientists, the Arctic is home to a quarter of the world’s
untapped oil and gas reserves.
Geologists think that
the area contains 10 billion tonnes of oil and gas, but some
estimates put the total closer to 100 billion tonnes.
So far it has been
out of reach for these countries due to the presence of ice
sheets.
However, global
warming has changed all of this and given renewed impetus in the
race for control of the Arctic and its huge oil reserves. Up
until now, the five Arctic nations’ claim to the North Pole was
lower in their collective priorities.
But no one is the
owner of the North Pole, are they?
Harald van Reenen
is the first individual who has joined the fight via Giantclaim™,
the organisation entitled to act on his behalf. He is asking you
to join the cause against the five Polar countries, in order to
claim the Arctic for ourselves! His aim is to have 25 million
people to join him.
Giantclaim™ gives
you a unique chance to join the ‘gold rush’ and have your very
own claim to the North Pole and its vast oil and gas reserves
through the International People’s Claim.
But there’s not
only oil and gas to be found at the North Pole. Experts say it
also has significant sources of diamonds, gold, tin, manganese,
nickel, lead and platinum. The value of these riches are beyond
anyone’s imagination, and once exploited, a gold rush like no
other will begin, that has so far been unseen by mankind.
Why hasn’t the
North Pole been exploited so far?
The North Pole is a ‘No Man's Land’ currently supervised by the
UN, but no
single country has any jurisdiction over the Arctic. It is
governed by the International Seabed Authority.
The five Polar countries - Russia, the U.S.A., Canada, Norway
and Denmark (Greenland) - each control no more than a 200-mile
zone along their coastlines, yet not one region actually extends
to the North Pole itself. Further, from a practical angle, the
ice sheet that makes up the region has made exploitation
virtually impossible.
Why did Russia recently planted their national flag under the
ice of the North Pole?
Under the current UN Maritime convention, a country's zone can
only be extended if it can prove that their continental shelves
are geographically linked to the Arctic seabed.
This is what Russia has based its claims on. They argue that
that an underwater feature, known as the Lomonosov Ridge,
belongs to Russia's continental shelf.
This is disputed,
not only by the other four Polar countries, but also by the UN
who say no one can claim jurisdiction over the Arctic seabed
because the geological structure does not match the surrounding
continental shelves.
The entire region
is administered by the International Seabed Authority, but even
this is now being challenged by Moscow.
Why will the North
Pole disappear?
The North Pole is
slowly melting due to the effects of global warming.
When will the North
Pole be free of ice?
Scientist predict the
region could be ice-free by as soon as 2040. (Source:
Livescience)
Does Giantclaim™
disputes any of the claims of the five Polar nations?
No.
Why has Harald v
Reenen claimed the North Pole?
Until now only
individual nations were fighting for the riches of the North
Pole. These countries have so far agreed that no one is the real
owner of the Arctic, but the possibility of billions of tons of
oil and gas being found in the region has changed all that. The
melting of the ice sheet has now made the exploitation of the
North Pole a more realistic opportunity than ever before.
But why shouldn’t we,
as the people who pay the rising prices of petrol at the Gas
Station, not join in the gold rush? This claim is the only
chance you will ever have to owning a piece of the North Pole,
and won’t you be glad when you see the price of oil continue to
soar – oil that YOU own!
So far only the five
Polar countries are trying to safeguard their piece of the
“golden cake”. Harald van Reenen is the first individual to claim the
North Pole, and through Giantclaim™, you too are now able to
come along and become co-owner of the claim to the North Pole.
Your claim is part of
The International People’s Claim to the North Pole which
Harald van Reenen filed with the Library of Congress, Washington
D.C.
How much oil will be
ours when we exert our claim and the oil can be exploited?
Nobody knows exactly
how much oil and gas will be found in the North Pole. Some
geologists argue that the area contains upwards of 10 billion
tonnes of oil and gas, but other estimates put the total closer
to 100 billion tonnes.
Giantclaim™ has
therefore decided to be on the safe side and take 50 billion
tonnes as a reasonable estimate. If we take the value of 1
barrel of oil in the future, when we are able to drill for oil
at $100 USD, (1 barrel is 159 liters of oil) this means the
total value of our claim is worth (hold your breath) more than
25 trillion dollars.
Why do you think we’re
eligible to earn more than a million dollars with our claim to
the North Pole?
If we put the total
reserve at 50 billion tons of oil and $100 USD per barrel (see
question above), and we have 25 million individual claims to the
North Pole, it means every one of you who has registered a claim
through us can fetch more than $1,000,000 USD.
And that’s not all.
Geologists say there is also a
significant source
of diamonds, gold, tin, manganese, nickel, lead and platinum.
At this moment
we’re unable to determine the value of those minerals, but it’s
very likely that your own personalised claim to the North Pole
may be much, much more than a “meagre” one million US Dollars.
And if that wasn’t
enough, anyone who can legally stake a claim to the Arctic,
would also own what could prove to be a very valuable shipping
lane in the near future.
Who can join the claim
to the North Pole?
Everyone – including
YOU! Click

Should I be a resident
of one of the Polar nations to join the “People’s Claim”?
No matter where you
live or what your age is, you can join our claim and make your
own decision about the future of the North Pole. The People’s
Claim is what it says it is.
What are the five
Polar nations and why are they called like this?
The five Polar nations
are Russia, the U.S.A., Norway, Canada and Denmark (through
Greenland).
They are called Polar
nations because they have Arctic coastlines.
Who owns the North
Pole?
Nobody.
The Polar nations have
agreed that no one owns the Arctic. That agreement was made when
nobody had any interest in the North Pole, and were unaware of
the vast oil and gas reserves, which scientists believe can be
found under the almost unpenetratable ice sheet.
However, due to the
rapidly receding ice cap and the possibility of billions of
tonnes of oil and gas, the situation has changed. Each of the
five Polar nations are now claming all, or part of the Artic, as
their own.
Under a UN convention,
nations are allowed to present claims of Arctic sovereignty if
they can prove their continental shelves are linked to the Artic
seabed. All claims made by the Polar nations have so far have
been rejected.
The Law of the Sea
Treaty governs disputes over the exploitation rights of the
Arctic. The U.S.A. has refused to ratify this.
Can the claims of
the Polar nations lead to a war between them?
Oil and gas
supplies are vital to the world’s economy and the U.S.A. has
already sent in nuclear submarines to make their position clear
over how serious they are taking the matter. They also have
refused to ratify The Law of the Sea Treaty that governs
disputes over the exploitation rights of the Arctic.
The best way to
avoid war is if we take over control of the Arctic instead.
We, the People of
the world, who do not have submarines at our disposal, but who
are voters in our own democratic systems, have a TRUE claim to
the North Pole through our participation in “The People’s Claim
to the North Pole and its Resources”.
I’m a resident of
Russia? Why should I join your claim if my country is already
claiming the North Pole?
All of the five
Polar nations are trying to claim a part of the North Pole and
all its energy reserves. So far none of these claims have been
recognised by the UN. We would like you to join our cause to
become the REAL owners of the North Pole. If we succeed you will
receive your fair share in the profits that may be made when
exploiting the Arctic.
If Russia or any of
the other nations succeed in claiming the North Pole, then you
will receive nothing and you will still have to pay the high
prices at your local Gas Station.
Why do we need 25
million claim holders to the North Pole?
On the one hand
it’s an impressive “army” of individuals who have had to pay the
price at the Gas Station; a price decided by oil companies and
their governments. But 25 million claim holders can’t simply be
pushed aside by these nations. If we achieve that number of
claim holders we will already have one foot on the North Pole.
On the other hand,
25 million claim holders will still make a huge profit of at
least a million dollars, for that is how HUGE the oil reserves
under the ice sheet of the Arctic are believed to be.
